The MHS boys cross country team competed Friday morning at Rim Rock Farm in Lawrence for the 2014 State Championships.
The Indians brought home the top two places with Jackson Schroeder and Michael Melgares. Schroeder finished in first place, four seconds better than his counter part Melgares. Melgares had a tight finish with second and third place finishing a tenth of a second better than the third place finisher.
Other notable finishes for the Indians: Isaiah Koppes (27th), Copper Schroeder (40th), Samuel Morgan (60th), Peter Gruenbacher (68th) and Alejandro Martinez (73rd).
Manhattan as a team finished in third place behind Blue Valley and Garden City.
The Manhattan High girls finished fourth as a team and were led by Megan Ochoa who finished 15th.
Other runners for the Indian girls included Cara Melgares (20th), Cristina Martinez (25th), Leah Selman (52nd), Mackenzie Gwinner (53rd), Taylor Efurd (69th) and Molly Bollman (92st).
