While on the surface November sales tax numbers are down from last month, in the city of Manhattan, the City Finance Director is pleased with the numbers. Bernie Hayen describes the figures as nothing but good news, with virtually every sector reporting higher sales for this period which mostly covers October.
The statistics were released Wednesday morning, and showed that $955,911 were collected this month, and $1,049,448 were collected in October.
Although the receipts were down from October, the collections were still up from the 2014 budget projection of $778,250. This means sales tax numbers were $114,133 up from the budget estimate.
