USD 378 special election ready for Tuesday vote

Results on a proposed $22.5 million bond issue for USD 378 school improvements are expected Tuesday night.

Riley County clerk Rich Vargo told county commissioners Monday morning his office has already received 105 advance votes so far from advanced voting, which closed Monday at noon.

Polls will open Tuesday at 7 a.m. and will close at 7 p.m. Vargo expects the results to be fully reported sometime around 9 p.m.

“That’s dependent on when the supervising judges bring in the results from their polling places,” Vargo told the commission.

The Leonardville Community Building, Sedalia Church, Riley Centre and Keats Methodist Annex are the polling places.

If approved, the bond would pay for major renovations to the Riley County High School, including new classrooms and upgrades to facilities.
