Junction City Police report an armed robbery at Subway in the 300 block of West Sixth at about 7:30 Wednesday night. A news release from JCPD Lt. Jeff Childs indicates upon arrival officers learned a lone black male approached one of the on duty employees, produced a handgun and demanded money from the register. It was learned the suspect departed the business on foot.
During the investigation of the incident a possible suspect was identified, located and transported to the Junction City Police Department. Upon further investigation, the suspect, identified as Henry Lightner, 53, from Junction City was placed under arrest for attempted aggravated robbery, aggravated assault, and interference with a law enforcement officer. Lightner was escorted to the Geary County Detention Center where he was booked, processed and confined without bond pending first appearance in the Geary County District Court.
