Update – 11 a.m. Wednesday
A Tuesday house fire in south Manhattan is now being investigated as being intentionally set.
The Manhattan Fire Department was called out to 807 Pottawatomie Avenue Tuesday afternoon, and contained the fire, located in a front room, within 10 minutes. The home had smoke throughout and a dog escaped the home safely after a back door was opened by firefighters.
The Riley County Police Department filed an arson report, listing a 75-year-old woman as the victim when a 28-year-old woman reportedly started the fire. No arrests had been made as of Wednesday.
The fire department says no injuries were reported. Loss was estimated at $10,000.

The Manhattan Fire Department quickly extinguished a house fire Tuesday afternoon, but not before it sustained significant damage.
Firefighters were dispatched around 2:30 p.m. to 807 Pottawatomie Avenue, and found smoke throughout the house and a small fire in a front room. It was contained within 10 minutes. One dog escaped the fire after a back door was opened by firefighters. No injuries were reported.
The single-story home had an estimated $10,000 in loss, according to the report. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
