Last month, Manhattan City Commissioners received a six-month update from parking services regarding revenue and activity at the Aggieville Parking Garage.
Assistant City Manager Jared Wasinger told KMAN the garage saw an increase in traffic throughout the school semester and had accrued nearly $70,000 in revenue between mid-January and the end of June.
During that time frame, 24,624 transactions took place. Of those transactions, only 7,962 vehicles stayed beyond the free two-hour parking timeframe.
Wasinger said this does come at a cost for the city.
The city has incurred $5,642.55 in Park Mobile transaction fees on behalf of customers.
Wasinger said despite this loss in revenue, the city does not plan to make any changes to the garage fees and operations.
Additionally, Wasinger noted that 6,996 warnings and only 621 actual citations were issued.
He said the city’s goal is not to give citations but to help educate the community on how the garage operates.
