Bridge replacement in NE Pottawatomie County to start next Thursday

A project to replace bridge MCR56, located between Sunflower Road and Trails End Road on Havensville Road in the northeastern part of Pottawatomie County, will begin on Thursday, Jan. 30.

The bridge was damaged during a vehicle accident that occurred in Apr. 2023. The road has been open to one lane of traffic since the accident.

The road will be completely closed to through traffic, no detour will be marked, and a shoo fly detour will not be constructed. The construction of shoo fly detours at bridge replacement project locations is an additional expensive cost to a project. It has been the policy of Pottawatomie County to not construct shoofly detours to save construction dollars for use at other project locations.

The project was designed by Bartlett & West and was awarded to Ebert Construction Co. in Sept. 2024. The estimated completion date for the project is Aug. 2025.
