    Motorcycle theft and pursuit result in arrest in Pott County

    The Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Department is seeking more information about a burglary that took place at Brooks Yamaha earlier this month.

    The sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a burglary in progress just before 5:30 a.m. on February 7. At the time, deputies determined that the business had been broken into and multiple motorcycles had been stolen and loaded into a U-Haul.

    The U-Haul was located in Wabaunsee County and a pursuit ensure, culminating in the arrest of 23-year-old Omar Ocampo, Jr., of Kansas City, Missouri. Ocampo was transferred to the Pottawatomie County Jail on February 14, where he remains confined on charges of burglary, theft and criminal damage to property. Ocampo’s bond has been set at $100,000.

    The Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s office does expect further arrests in the case and is asking anyone with more information to contact the sheriff’s office at (785) 457-3353 or leave a tip on the Crime Stoppers link at ptsheriff.com.
