Herrman files for re-election to USD 383 board

    Curt Herrman

Longtime Manhattan-Ogden School Board member Curt Herrman has filed for a fifth term on the school board.

Herrman says after serving and advocating for educational needs for over 20 years, including as a parent volunteer prior to his time on the board, he’d like to continue that work on the board. In a Monday release, Herrman noted he has served on every district committee and been board president for three of his 15 years on the board. He has also served eight years on the board of directors for the Kansas Association of School Boards, and says he will support all children, regardless of their background, noting an appreciation for a diverse community.

Herrman says he believes a school board must be responsive and receptive to parents, staff, students and the community at large, encouraging an open dialog. He goes on to say the board must base decisions weighing input from all groups, relying on facts, noting that all who come before the board have a right to be heard.

With Herrman entering the race, there are now four candidates so far who have filed for the USD 383 board. Just one other incumbent, Kristin Brighton has filed for re-election along with candidates Frank Beer and Robert Busby. Incumbent Darell Edie has stated he will not seek re-election. Incumbent Brandy Santos has not indicated whether she will seek a second term.
