    What: Live music: Opening Act – Plastique, Headliner – Augustus

    When: 7:30 p.m. Friday

    Where: Larry Norvell Band Shell at City Park (11th and Poyntz Ave, Manhattan, KS)

    Why: Live summer music series, free and open to the public.

    SATURDAY

    What: 2nd Annual Community Baby Shower

    When: 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday

    Where: 2101 Claflin Road, Manhattan, KS (Family and Child Resource Center)

    Why: To provide information and resources, specifically on safe sleep during infancy

    Who: T. Russell Reitz Animal Shelter

    What: Open House, garage sale, KSU Wellness on Wheels vehicle

    When: 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.  Saturday

    Where: 605 Levee Drive, Manhattan, KS (Animal Shelter)

    Why: To provide information on adoption, wellness services and items for pets

    What: PACT Act Resources Event

    When: 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday

    Where: 701 N. Jefferson Street, Junction City, KS (Municipal Building — in the gymnasium)

    Why: to provide veterans with information about VA healthcare enrollment, disability claims, and toxic exposures

    5:30 p.m. Everyday Lights Concert
    6:30 & 8:00 p.m. Mounted Color Guard Demonstrations
    7:00 p.m. 1st Infantry Division Band Concert
    8:30 p.m. Salina Symphony Concert

    Where: 200 SE 4th Street, Abilene, KS

    Why: To commemorate the anniversary of D-Day


    SUNDAY

    What: Boys State of Kansas Opening Ceremony — Keynote speaker is Kendall Gammon, 15-year NFL veteran with the Kansas City Chiefs, New Orleans Saints and Pittsburgh Steelers.

    When: 2:30 p.m. Sunday

    Where: McCain Auditorium, 1501 Goldstein Circle, Manhattan, KS (on the K-State campus)

    Why: an opportunity for young adults to engage in individual and professional growth, as well as promote respect for the democratic government of the United States
