Close to $30,000 has been raised by candidates seeking a seat on the Manhattan City Commission this fall.

Campaigns were required to file their first round reports July 24. Seven of the nine candidates submitted reports, showing financial contributions and expenditures between January 1 and July 20. Incumbents are outpacing the field, with Mayor Mark Hatesohl raising over $12,500 and John Matta raising over $7,400.

Peter Oppelt leads all challengers in overall fundraising, generating close to $6,200, followed by Susan Adamchak with $2,400 raised and Rosemary Crumly-Loucks receiving $1,450. Karen McCulloh raised just $30 and Darqel Brown turned in a report showing no contributions.

According to Deputy Riley County Clerk Susan Boller candidate Connor Knightley did not submit a campaign finance report, while Rafael Rodriguez, Jr. filed an exemption since he plans to raise no more than $1,000.

Full PDFs of each candidate’s contributions and expenditures area available below. The second round of campaign finance reports are due out in late October, ahead of the Nov. 7 election.

Four seats are up for grabs on the Manhattan City Commission. The top two in voting will receive a four year term. The third place candidate receives a two-year term. The fourth place candidate will serve out the remaining two years of former commissioner Usha Reddi’s term. Reddi resigned earlier this year following her appointment to the Kansas Senate.

Adamchack, Susan Brown, Darqel Crumly Loucks, Rosemary Hatesohl, Mark Matta, John McCulloh, Karen Oppelt, Peter
