K-State has it’s ninth known commitment for the 2015 recruiting class in the form of Mill Valley (KS) offensive tackle Evan Applegate. Applegate tweeted his commitment Friday afternoon:  @big_apple55 · 2h I just committed to be a KSU WILDCAT!!! Thank you to all the coaches who have recruited me. The 2014-15 Manhattan High boys won’t have their leading scorer and rebounder from a season ago. Payton Stephens, who averaged nearly 14 points and six rebounds per game as a junior, is transferring from MHS. Stephens is a 6-foot-4 forward who has been a three-year varsity player for the Indians and was expected to be a force once again. K-State senior forward Thomas Gipson was arrested in Geary County yesterday on suspicion of driving while his licence was revoked. Gipson was stopped for speeding on US-77 near the I-70 junction at 11:56 a.m. He was booked into the Geary County Detention Center after a check showed that his licence had been revoked. He was later released on a $1,000 bond. Gipson averaged over 11 points and 5 rebounds per game as a junior last season for the Wildcats.

K-State will appear on national television in a school record 17 of their 18 Big 12 games. The league released the full Big 12 schedule on Thursday. The Wildcats will be on ESPN or ESPN2 nine times, ESPNU six times and ESPNNews twice. Jeff Mittie’s first Big 12 game at K-State will come on the road at Iowa State on January 3rd. The Wildcats will get three of their first five Big 12 games at Bramlage Coliseum, starting with reigning co-Big 12 regular season champion Baylor on January 6th. Garden City Community College head coach Matt Miller tells KMAN that linebacker D’Vonta Derricott has now graduated from Garden City, is eligible to play for K-State and should be headed to Manhattan late Monday or Tuesday. Derricott is the final of four junior college recruits that K-State has been waiting on since the start of fall camp. Linebacker Isaiah Riddle, offensive tackle A.J. Allen and defensive tackle Terrell Clinkscales arrived late last week. For a fifth straight season, K-State’s game against Kansas in Manhattan will be featured on ESPN’s “Big Monday.” The game will tip off at 8:00 P.M. on February 23rd, 2015. It’s the only game this season that the Wildcats will have on Big Monday. It will be the 11th Big Monday game that K-State has hosted at Bramlage Coliseum. K-State will take on Purdue in their opening game of the 2014 Maui Invitational on November 24th at 1:30 P.M. on ESPN2. Bruce Weber was an assistant for 18 years under Gene Keady at Purdue from 1980-98 and was 7-11 against the Boilermakers during his time at Illinois. Purdue finished just 15-17 and 5-13 in the Big Ten last season. They return four players that started at least 15 games last season and add two top-100 recruits in Isaac Haas and Vince Edward. Grossmont Community College offensive tackle A.J. Allen has informed KMAN that he is on his way to K-State early this week. K-State players are scheduled report Sunday for the start of fall camp. Allen won’t make it on Sunday, but he says he expects to be in Manhattan, “around Tuesday or Wednesday.” This is welcome news to the Wildcats who need help at offensive tackle after losing both Cornelius Lucas and Tavon Rooks to graduation.
