Updated 11 a.m. Tuesday: The Riley County Police Department issued a press release late Tuesday morning regarding the case of missing Manhattan man…Robert Griffith. The department says police have not yet positively identified the body of a deceased male found inside a black Cadillac Escalade belonging to Griffith. An autopsy has been ordered and detectives will conduct a routine follow-up investigation. Officials have not yet determined a cause of death… but police do not suspect the public to be in any danger. Griffith’s family posted to a public Facebook page late Monday night that preliminary identification of the body indicated…
As previously reported by KMAN, two large ongoing cases held appearances in Riley County District Court Monday. This includes Dontay Tabron and Anthony Brazzle. Dontay Tabron, the man charged in connection with a shooting incident in Aggieville in April was sentenced to 89 months in prison, followed by 36 months of post-release supervision. Tabron’s request for durational departure before his sentence was denied, and must now follow through with criminal registry. Assistant City Manager Kiel Mangus told the group about one project that’s received a lot of attention–North Manhattan Avenue. Mangus also mentioned projects at Westwood and Sunset, 17th and Anderson, and the Denison Corridor. K-State’s Jackie Hartman talked about the variety of projects on campus, admitting when someone gets onto campus they may need to leave with a different route and even walking around campus is tricky right now. Riley County commissioners approved budget revisions for community corrections Monday morning. The FY2016 revisions dealt with behavioral health and adult services and the budget revisions amounted to $107,313 and $438,341, respectively. It should be noted, however, that those are monies appropriated by the state, but must be approved by the Riley County Board of Commissioners before it is dispersed. Riley County did have to chip in to the community corrections budget earlier this summer, though. Community Corrections Director Shelly Williams said cuts from the state didn’t allow her to work in merit increases and commissioners approved $15,306 earlier this summer…
Conner Goss-Griffin, 24, of Topeka, was arrested on Friday July 24th, at approximately 2:30 PM while at the Riley County Police Department. Goss-Griffin was arrested on a warrant for burglary (X2) and aggravated burglary which occurred in June of this year. He was issued a bond of $20,000.00 and at the time of this report was confined at the Riley County Jail. ### Police arrested Darryl Bond, 51, of Manhattan for the offenses of criminal threat and aggravated assault after a domestic related incident caused a police response. A driver received medical attention after a two vehicle accident in Riley County on Sunday night. Twenty-nine-year-old Silvana Okanoviv of St. Louis, Missouri made a hard left turn through the median into on-coming traffic, resulting in her 2014 Volvo striking the second vehicle head on. 44-year-old Patrick Drewes of Lawrence was identified as the driver of the second vehicle, along with a seven-month-old passenger, Tegan Drewes of Wamego. The Drewes’ received possible injuries, but were not taken to a medical facility. Okanoviv was taken to Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan. All three of those involved in the accident were wearing…
