Officers with the Riley County Police Department filed a report for theft in the 300 block of Plymate Lane in Manhattan on January 8, 2016 at approximately 12:30 PM for a theft which occurred between January 1, 2016 and January 4, 2016. Police found that Bryan Gauntt, 51, of Manhattan became the victim of this crime when his 2014 black carry on trailer valued at approximately $1,203.00 was removed without his permission. A 26-year-old Fort Riley man, remains without counsel as he faces 2nd degree murder charges. Wearing a prison jump suit, Tierre Wall appeared in Riley County Court for a status hearing on Monday morning. Manhattan’s 4 Olives Restaurant and Wine Bar Owners Scott and Rachel Benjamin were involved in an accident this past weekend near the Appalachian Trail in northern Georgia. Scott Benjamin tells KMAN the accident occurred Friday night at 8:30 in the Chattahoochee National Forest where he and Rachel had been hiking, when a friend from Gainesville, Georgia came to pick them up after heavy rain and some flooding of streams in the area. TOPEKA — The Kansas Legislature’s top Democrats are predicting that Republican lawmakers will try to extend a new law for funding public schools that’s been criticized by many educators. Senate Minority Leader Anthony Hensley of Topeka and House Minority Leader Tom Burroughs of Kansas City said Sunday that they believe the Legislature’s GOP majorities won’t be able to pass another school funding law this year.
