Adcock serves as Executive Director of the Council Grove/Morris County Chamber of Commerce & Tourism, and she was pleased with the turn-out at the event. HUTCHINSON, Kan. (AP) Investigators say fire that critically injured a Hutchinson woman was caused by a child playing with lighter fluid and a lighter. The Hutchinson News reports Wednesday afternoon’s blaze started on the porch and quickly engulfed the single-story wooden frame home. Judy King, who relies on a wheelchair to get around, was trapped in the back of the house before being rescued by firefighters and airlifted to a Wichita hospital, where she remains in critical condition. HUTCHINSON, Kan. (AP) A Kansas appeals court has ruled that a Reno County judge properly suppressed police interviews of a defendant in the murder case of a Hutchinson mother who was killed in what prosecutors called a case of mistaken identity. Reno County District Attorney Keith Schroeder told The Hutchinson News it will take him several days to digest the decision before deciding how to proceed in the case of Billy Joe Craig, who is charged with first-degree murder in the June 2011 slaying of Jennifer Heckel. Saturday morning, the Riley County Police Department met with Union Pacific’s U.P. CARES program to conduct enforcement of railroad- related traffic laws in the Manhattan area.
