Shortly after 10:30 Monday morning, Kansas State University Police and emergency personnel from the Manhattan Fire Department and Riley County EMS responded to the Vanier Football Complex construction site for a workplace accident.According to Major Don Stubbings, K-State Police Department, the accident was the result of a concrete form falling onto a worker. One person was taken to Mercy Regional Health Center by EMS for injuries that were not life-threatening. Eleven fire department personnel, three EMS and five police officers responded, along with members of the K-State Environmental Health and Safety team. The Environmental Health and Safety team is investigating the accident.

A Florida company submitted the only bid to be opened during the Riley County Public Works sign truck bid opening, held during Monday’s county commission meeting. Stamm Manufacturing of Fort Pierce, FL submitted a big of $113,580 for a sign truck. This one bid was approved for to move forward for staff evaluation and recommendation. ——- The majority of the meeting was used for the press conference.  Local organization leaders came forward to share updates and details about upcoming events. A Manhattan man facing three charges, including aggravated arson, made a plea in his case in Riley County District Court Judge, John Bosch’s courtroom Monday morning. Ivan Beaulieu faces aggravated arson, criminal damage to property, and theft after two November incidents and one September incident. Beaulieu appeared alongside his attorney, Lora Ingels.  Prosecuting State Attorney, Kendra Lewison stated they had reached a plea agreement which encompasses all the cases and consolidated them. Ashia Woods scored 19 points as Kansas State pulled out a 41-37 victory over Texas Tech in Big 12 Women’s Basketball action Saturday afternoon in Lubbock. K-State was able to win its second straight game despite scoring only 18 second half points, but the Defense came alive for Jeff Mittie’s squad which held the Lady Red Raiders to only 14 points.
