An Ogden man faces charges after his arrest Wednesday morning by Riley County Police. RCPD announced Thursday morning the arrest at 8:50 a.m. Wednesday of Steven Meredith, 27, on warrants for failure to appear and probation violation. The original offense was arson and fleeing or attempt to elude. Police made contact with Meredith in the 200 block of 9th Street in Ogden and at that time Meredith fled on foot. Dustin Monroe of Wamego was found guilty of two counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, and criminal discharge of a weapon at an occupied building early Thursday morning at Pottawatomie County District Court. Monroe entered a no contest plea on all of the charges in agreement with a plea agreement that dropped several other charges related to the incident. KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) The Chiefs have signed quarterback Aaron Murray, their fifth-round pick, leaving only first-round pick Dee Ford among their unsigned players from this year’s draft. The Chiefs announced the signing Wednesday. They open a three-day rookie minicamp Saturday. Murray was considered a first-round talent a year ago, but he had this past season cut short by a torn ligament in his knee. The Chiefs believe Murray could push second-year pro Tyler Bray for the No. 3 job, and perhaps even supplant Chase Daniel as the backup to starter Alex Smith.

A 45 year old Junction City man who had been discharged by the Kansas Department of Corrections nearly two years ago was arrested at the Foot Locker on U-S 77 in Junction city Wednesday. James McDade served a little less than a year with KDOC on criminal trespass, theft, and aggravated assault convictions. He was sentenced in November of 2011, but discharged in August of 2012. Details about why he was arrested are not available, although the KDOC website indicates their office issued a warrant. Junction City Police officers assisted Kansas Parole officers in his arrest.
