Alma resident and K-State alumnus, Keen Umbehr recently announced his decision to run for Kansas Governor. The Libertarian candidate recently spoke to KMAN and shared his story. The Manhattan City Commission is considering a change to the current application process for Benefit Districts. Under the change, Deputy City Manager, Jason Hilgers said during Tuesday’s Work Session that the City would require property developers to submit two new forms, one certifying all tax payments to Manhattan are current, and the other disclosing the tax status of all companies that a developer has a 20 percent or greater interest in. “All it’s really doing is alerting the governing body in the event a developer is delinquent on a previous or other project,” Hilgers said. “And then it adds to…

Linda Weis has been appointed to serve a four year term on the Kansas Supreme Court Nominating Commission, to fulfill the unexpired term of Don Dahl. Weis earned her bachelor’s degree at the University of Kansas and her master’s degree at the University of Denver. Congressman Tim Huelskamp made it official Tuesday, filing for re-election at the Kansas Secretary of State’s office. The Congressman tells KMAN he’s excited about the campaign. For nearly 30 years former Senator Bob Dole represented the state of Kansas… and the retired 90-year-old Senator is paying several visits around the state, with a stop in Manhattan Tuesday. Pottawatomie County has a lot of public works projects going on, as Public Works Director Leu Lowery reported to county commissioners Monday. Commission Chair Stan Hartwich talks about one particular area that’s been of concern safety-wise for a number of years. Documents were signed for Flush Road improvements, adding turn lanes westbound and accelaration lanes. A bridge crew replacement was also approved, to fill a resignation.
