After a frustrating week which saw him score a combined two points in losses to Georgia and Oklahoma State, Kansas State Sophomore guard Marcus Foster saw Wednesday night’s game against TCU as an opportunity for redemption. The City of Manhattan approached the Manhattan Ogden USD 383 school district about the possibility of a bike pathway at Manhattan High School east campus, which would provide access to Houston Street. Associate Superintendent, Robert Seymour presented the item to the board.  He mentioned this would be a ten year easement and would be no cost to the district. Some board members expressed concerns, including Board Member, Curt Herrman.  He said he would not be comfortable with putting a bike lane in a parking lot, as there could be safety concerns and they would lose parking. After being named the first head coach of the Kansas State Women’s Soccer program on December 26, Mike Dibbini got to meet the media and the public for the first time on Wednesday. In a press conference held at the K-State Alumni Center, Dibbini who coached at Kansas Wesleyan and Cal Poly-Pomona was presented with his new Purple blazer by Athletics Director John Currie and then addressed the media for the first time and fielded questions. Several area cases are to be heard before the Kansas Court of Appeals next week. One involves former Fort Riley soldier,  George Ferenz, 32,who was convicted in Riley County in September of 2013 on two counts of aggravated criminal sodomy and two counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child less than 14 years old. Ferenz currently is being held at Lansing and his earliest possible release date is September of 2038. The Wamego City Commission approved Oz Museum improvements at Tuesday’s meeting. Columbian Theatre Executive Director Clint Stueve, Columbian Foundation Board members Bunny McCloud and Betsy Riblet addressed the Commissioners, requesting permission to proceed with fundraising efforts to improve the facade of the Oz Museum. According to City Manager Merl Page, their request and proposal falls outside the zoning and signage regulations, so the City rather than the Planning Commission can grant permission.
