Updated: 9-29 The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) has rescinded a boil water advisory for the Riverchase Mobile Home Park public water supply located in Manhattan and Riley County. KDHE officials issued the advisory because of a loss of pressure. Failure to maintain adequate pressure may result in a loss of chlorine residuals and bacterial contamination. Public water suppliers in Kansas take all measures necessary to notify customers quickly after a system failure. CLEVELAND (AP) — Danny Duffy pushed the Royals a little closer to the top in the AL Central and nearer their first playoff appearance in 29 years. Duffy pitched six shutout innings for his first win in more than a month as Kansas City moved within one game of first-place Detroit and kept some distance over Cleveland in the wild-card race, beating the Indians 2-0 on Monday night. The Big 12 Conference announced on Monday that Kansas State’e Football game with Texas Tech on October 4 will be a 6 p.m. CDT kickoff at Bill Snyder Family Stadium The game will be nationally televised on ESPNU. It will be the second Wildcat contest this season to be televised on ESPN’s self-described Family of Networks as the Auburn game last week was on ESPN. TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt is seeking dismissal of a lawsuit by the state’s largest teachers’ union over a new law ending guaranteed tenure in public schools. Schmidt filed his request Monday in Shawnee County District Court in response to the lawsuit filed in August by the Kansas National Education Association. The attorney general contends the union has no standing to sue over the tenure law because it is not directly harmed. He also argues the union can’t show that any individual has been harmed since the law took effect in July. The union declined to comment.…

Pottawatomie County Commissioners are considering changes when it comes to inspections and building permits–and Geary and Riley County officials shared thoughts on the way they handle such matters during Monday’s meeting in Westmoreland. David Yearout, Junction City/Geary County Planning and Zoning Director, shared his county’s method, with the same requirements in Junction City, Milford, and Geary County. Yearout also shared his experiences in other parts of the state where he’s worked.
