INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Chuck Pagano couldn’t believe his eyes. Andrew Luck couldn’t believe his ears. Colts fans couldn’t believe the scoreboard, and the Kansas City Chiefs couldn’t believe their incredibly bad luck. It seemed unfathomable. On a day Luck appeared to be pressing and, at times, as bad as he ever has played while putting Indianapolis in a 28-point deficit, the Colts quarterback somehow turned things around and helped Indianapolis to an improbable 45-44 AFC Wildcard victory Saturday at Lucas Oil Stadium. “One for the ages,” said Pagano, Indianapolis’ coach. “I think somebody said that it was the second-largest comeback…
Marcus Foster scored 17 points and Nino Williams added 15 including three clutch free throws in the game’s final 13 seconds to lift Kansas State to a 74-71 upset over sixth-ranked Oklahoma State before a sold out Bramlage Coliseum Saturday afternoon in the Big 12 opener for both teams. In a very physical contest K-State went toe to toe with a team that Head Coach Bruce Weber called a potential Final Four team that was missing two key players. Center Michael Cobbins had season ending surgery on his Achilles Tendon earlier this week and then backup point guard Stevie Clark…

LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) A Lawrence disc jockey whose friends reported him missing has been found dead on the grounds of a northeast Kansas park. WICHITA, Kan. (AP) A federal appeals court has ruled that a Kansas man was legally in custody while under house confinement and can be prosecuted for escape for leaving his home. The 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Friday reversed a lower court’s dismissal of the indictment charging Michael Ko with escape for failing to return his Leavenworth home. Ko received a five-year sentence for a 2009 conviction of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine. He served most of his sentence in prison. With about four months left on it, the Bureau of Prisons transferred Ko to confinement at his home…
ATCHISON, Kan. (AP) Members of a northeast Kansas police department are mourning the loss of a four-legged colleague known for helping crack big cases and letting children pat his tummy. KAIR-FM reports the Atchison Police Department’s tracking and narcotics detection dog Bear died Wednesday of a terminal medical condition. The department says Bear died surrounded by fellow officers, and a private memorial service is planned next week. Atchison Police Chief Mike Wilson said Bear came to the department in January 2008 and worked with Cpl. John Ross. The dog assisted the biggest methamphetamine and high grade marijuana seizure in department…
WICHITA, Kan. (AP) The Libertarian party will pick its candidate for governor at the party’s convention in Wichita on April 26. About 150 registered Libertarians will choose between Keen Umbehr and Tresa McAlhaney. Because Libertarians are not considered a major party in Kansas, they are prohibited from picking their candidate by ballot in a primary election in August. Some Libertarians say having a primary election like Democrats and Republicans would improve their candidate’s chances for a good showing during the general election in November. The Kansas City Star reports that a political party in Kansas must get 5 percent of…
