A decision just passed down by the Kansas Supreme Court has upheld a conviction of a man involved in a series of attacks in Riley County. The court upheld the decision against Tony Tremayne Lewis, a soldier stationed at Fort Riley at the time, was convicted of attacks against three women in the spring of 2009.  However, the supreme court did vacate five life imprisonment sentences officials say were caused by a sentencing error, and now the case moves back to Riley County District Court for re-sentencing. After a two-year drought with no teams advancing to Omaha, the Big 12 sends three teams to the College World Series field for just the second time in conference history as Texas, Texas Tech and TCU are all in Omaha this weekend. The Longhorns, with the most all-time CWS appearances with 35, will kick off the double-elimination tournament against UC Irvine on Saturday afternoon at 3:00pm. Kansas State University’s College of Education and Manhattan/Ogden USD 383 have partnered on the implementation of a Department of Defense Education Activity grant.  The grant awarded for $1,739,045, is through the Promoting Student Achievement at Schools Impacted by Military Force Structure Changes Competitive Grant Program. This partnership was conducted in order to provide a STEM Summer Institute on the K-State campus.  This month, the institute will host over 300 5th-9th grade students, 24 school district faculty and staff members, 28 KSU pre-service students, and staff to participate in learning activities.
