(AP) The owner of the Kansas City Power and Light District has filed a defamation lawsuit against attorneys who claimed in an earlier lawsuit that the district discriminated against minority customers. The Kansas City Star reports Cordish Companies and two related entities filed a defamation suit this week against two attorneys who filed the earlier lawsuit on behalf of Glen Cusimano.

Around 80 bicyclists enjoyed this year’s Cycle CASA event, which featured two separate bike routes.  Both the long route and the short route began at the Poyntz shelter in Manhattan City Park, and both had several stops along the way.  Participants rode there bikes anywhere from 12 miles to 67 miles. Traditionally, the event is held on the second Saturday of every May, to raise awareness and support of the Sunflower CASA volunteers.  The program trains volunteers to advocate for neglected and abused children within the court system. Oklahoma State starting pitcher Jon Perrin struck out 10 and allowed four K-State hits in his second shutout of the season. The right-hander needed 129 pitches to get through the nine innings. An accident at the intersection of Tuttle Creek Boulevard and Blue River Hills Road Friday afternoon resulted in several injuries. According to the Riley County Police Department’s Twitter account, the accident occurred shortly after 1 p.m. Friday and up to four people were injured and a couple of those injuries may have been serious. The accident resulted in some delays at the intersection for a time and traffic was diverted. KMAN will have more information on this story as it becomes available.
