A St. Mary’s man already serving time for multiple burglaries entered a plea of no contest Monday in Pottawatomie County District Court to three counts of non-residential burglaries. Luke Linxwiler’s sentencing is set for April 24th.   The cases occurred in April and May of 2013 and involved Griffith Lumber and a site under construction in the industrial park in Pottawatomie County.   Linxiler was sentenced in February to nine years in prison for multiple burglaires in rural St.Mary’s and the city of St. Mary’s last summer

Jason Vargas was sharp in eight innings of work for Kansas City as the Royals open up a three game series with the Tampa Bay Rays with a 4-2 victory Monday night at Kauffman Stadium. Vargas (1-0) allowed four hits, walked one and struck out two in eight-plus innings, lowering his ERA to 1.20 in two starts. ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) Shabazz Napier scored 22 points and Connecticut won its second NCAA title in four years, beating all those Kentucky freshmen 60-54 in the championship game Monday night. Napier is among three UConn seniors who were part of the Huskies’ 2011 title. That trio stayed after coach Jim Calhoun’s retirement even when the Huskies were ineligible for the NCAA tournament last season. They came back strong in coach Kevin Ollie’s second season, and the Huskies (32-8) went all the way to their fourth overall title. Three major theft incidents turned into one significant arrest. The Riley County Police Department received a 9-1-1 call from Richard Rothfuss (69) of Junction City around 4:15 Sunday afternoon. He reported that he was confronted by an armed male in the 3100 block of Anderson Avenue, and forced to drive to the 4100 block of Marlatt Avenure, where his personal property was taken from him. The suspect then left in Rothfuss’s 2014 black Chevy Silverado valued around $30,000. He also obtained other items including a bank card and a cell phone.
