Currently the host of "KMAN's Morning News", Troy is a 30 year veteran of radio, nearly 20 in northern Colorado, where he served as the "Voice of the UNC Bears" while serving as the news and sports director for one of the oldest AM stations in the country. No stranger to Manhattan nor Kansas, Troy is an alum of K-State in broadcast journalism and grew up near Circleville. He began his broadcast career with KSDB-FM on campus while working part time at another radio station in town. He's married to the former Monica Haugsness of Seneca, who has patiently put up with his schedule for more than 25 years.

Three Manhattan High wrestlers won regional titles Saturday and a total of eight qualified for the State 6A meet this coming weekend. Easton Taylor at 138 pounds, Tucker Brunner at 152 and Talique Houston at 220 pounds won titles in their weight classes as Manhattan finished fourth in the regional in Wichita as a team. Wamego will send six wrestlers to the 4A state meet, including Hayden Oviatt, who won the regional title at 195 pounds. Riley County had two state qualifiers, Rock Creek one.

KSHSAA finalized its brackets for the Class 1A sub-state tournaments Sunday morning, setting up games this week for three of the four 1A Division I teams in the area. The Frankfort girls will host Onaga Friday night, seeking to move on to a matchup against second-seeded Doniphan West a week later.  Also on Friday, Blue Valley-Randolph play at Lincoln, with the winner advancing to face Clifton-Clyde the following week. The Manhattan High boys used nine three pointers to build a lead at Washburn Rural Friday night and held on for a 59-56 win, their third in a row. Jack Wilson scored 21 points, Tate Brown 14 as the Indians withstood a Junior Blues run that briefly allowed the home team to take a lead early in the 4th Quarter. Indians Head Coach Benji George said after the game his team showed poise after the Washburn Rural rally. After moving to within a game of five-hundred in Big 12 games, Kansas State plays the first of back-to-back road game Saturday, matching up with Oklahoma State. In their last two wins, the Wildcats have had to fight back from double-digit deficits. Guard Nijel Pack, who says that losses to Kansas, Baylor and Ole Miss last month may have been good for the team in the long run, as they are 4-1 since. With his team readying to face Oklahoma State Sunday afternoon, Kansas State women’s basketball coach Jeff Mittie and his wife Shanna announced publicly that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Mittie said yesterday afternoon on KMAN’s “The Game” that the family decided to make the announcement yesterday after meeting with doctors at the University of Kansas Medical Center Monday to plan for treatment of the cancer found during a standard exam earlier this year. K-State’s players are to have all reported to Houston by the end of the day as the runup to the Texas Bowl matchup with LSU continues. The season of upheaval for the Tigers has continued in the weeks since the matchup was announced, leaving LSU with only 51 scholarship players and questions at quarterback for the contest. K-State’s Texas Bowl opponent is losing its starting quarterback to the transfer portal. LSU’s Max Johnson made the announcement last night, with his brother, the top tight end recruit in the nation, rescinding his commitment to the Tigers as a result of the Brian Kelly hire to replace Ed Orgeron. Max Johnson threw for just over 28-hundred yards, 27 touchdowns and six interceptions. His brother, Jake, says he’ll enroll early at whatever school he commits to.
