The city of Wamego is holding its 143rd Annual Independence Day Parade this year, and the Wamego Area Chamber of Commerce is looking for parade entries.
Businesses and organizations are encouraged to build floats for the Fourth of July float contest, which are awarded in three categories: Best Portrayal or Display Related to the Theme, Greatest Display of Patriotism, and Most Unique or Clever Use of Materials. The theme for this year’s contest is “Long May She Wave- Beautiful and Brave”.
Parade entries are free, and located at www.visitwamego.com, or by emailing chamberstaff@wamego.com, or by calling (785)-456-7849. All entries should include some patriotic or theme-related decoration.
The parade will run its usual route, from 8th Street to 4th Street on Lincoln Avenue. Grand Marshall of the parade will be Betsy Riblett, who was named 2013 Citizen of the Year.
