Local author shares top activities, sites to see in Kansas

Kansans looking to explore the Sunflower State may find some new ground to cover thanks to Roxie Yonkey, a travel writer based out of Goodland, who stopped by Manhattan’s Flint Hills Discovery Center Friday.
Yonkey is the author of the recently published travel guide “100 Things to Do in Kansas Before You Die.”
      Kansas Book 1
To get started, Yonkey considered people, events and landmarks that Kansas is known for and many other events that have gained followings over the years. Yonkey says some are surprised she’s able to find 100 things while others are surprised that she only picked 100 things.
      Kansas Book 3

Yonkey believes Kansas can be considered a must see destination for tourists. She says, you just have to know where to look.

      Kansas Book 2
Yonkey tells KMAN there are some monumental individuals that dug their roots in Kansas. She also shares some of her favorite hidden gems, showing that many who think they know Kansas, perhaps don’t know the state as well as they think.
