MCC students traveling to Haiti for mission

Haiti might not be the ideal tourist destination for winter travelers, but students from Manhattan Christian College won’t be going there for the sights this winter break.

Six students along with MCC director of student development Eric Sanford will be spending part of their winter break in Port Au Prince, Haiti, with children who lost their parents in the tragic earthquake that struck the nation almost two years ago. Additionally, the group will also be passing out Christmas presents to orphans.

“We’re going to be working with the orphans,” Sanford said. “Whether they’ve been orphaned by the earthquake or by other means, we’re going to be working with a lot of children.

“I know several of our teammates are looking forward to interacting with the kids.”

Each student has raised $2,300 to finance his or her trip.

The MCC ambassadors will leave the states on December 28. The group will be back in Manhattan on January 5, 2012.
