The man shot in the Manhattan Town Center parking lot Wednesday evening is reportedly in critical condition at a Topeka hospital.
Riley County Police said Thursday morning the 33-year-old man was involved in an road rage incident in Manhattan and threatened two people with a crowbar. Police say a 20-year-old woman and 21-year-old man were victims in the altercation.
The 21-year-old man reportedly shot at the alleged attacker, in apparent self-defense, and the crowbar-wielding man fled the scene. He was later located near 3rd and Kearney suffering from gunshot wounds. Police say the he was initially transported to Ascension Via Christi and later air lifted to Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka. Police have not released names of either party involved.

One person was injured Wednesday evening after shots were fired outside Manhattan Town Center.
According to Riley County Police, a 20-year-old female and 21-year-old male were involved in an isolated altercation with a 33-year-old man outside of Dillard’s, in the parking lot. Police say the 33-year-old man, threatened the pair with a weapon and was in turn shot at by the male victim, in self-defense. He was not known to the couple.
The 33-year-old was later located near the intersection of 3rd and Kearney, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. He was transported to Ascension Via Christi and then later transported to Stormont Vail in Topeka.
No charges have been filed. Police have not released the names of either party.
