Riley County Commission prepares for new health department role

In about a week it will finally be official–the health department will be solely a Riley County entity. County commissioners Thursday approved three resolutions dealing with the transition as directed by County Counselor Clancy Holeman. One of the resolutions  appoints Susanne Kufahl as the local health officer, effective January First. Another designates a medical consultant to the local health officer. And the final resolution approved  dealt with the new advisory board. Holeman emphasized he purposely did not include any detail about what the role would be for the interim public health advisory board, since that’s still not resolved even with the permanent board.

Sales tax revenue was fairly impressive this past month, with Riley County Budget and Finance officer Johnette Shepek telling county commissioners, it amounted to nearly 161 thousand dollars.  Shepek also reported on the county’s C-I-P fund, economic development fund, and on the county building fund.
