    Soldier Dies After Single Gunshot Wound

    Junction City Police have released the name of the shooting victim this past weekend, KMAN news first told you about Saturday morning. d Fort Riley soldier Mark Blakey, 22, was assigned to Delta Company at Fort Riley.

    As announced Saturday, Blakey was pronounced dead of a single gunshot wound. The call came to Junction City Police at 12:30 Saturday morning. Officers of the Junction City police department were dispatched to an apartment on the 300 block of West 8th street in reference to the subject suffering from a gunshot wound.

    Upon arrival, officers discovered Blakey. EMS immediately transported the soldier to Geary Community Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

    Autopsy results have not been announced.

    A Fort Riley soldier has been pronounced dead from a single gunshot.

    Around 12:30 a.m. Saturday, officers of the Junction City police department were dispatched to an apartment on the 300 block of West 8th street in reference to a subject suffering from a gunshot wound.

    Upon arrival, officers discovered a 22 year old Fort Riley soldier suffering from a single gunshot.  EMS immediately transported the soldier to Geary Community Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

    The identity of the soldier has not yet been released, due to pending notification of his family.

    An autopsy has been scheduled.  The incident does not look to be criminal in nature, but the investigation is ongoing.
