KHP reported the accident occurred approximately eight miles east of K-177.

A rollover accident in Riley County sent two people to the hospital early Friday evening.

The crash occured shortly after 5 p.m. on Interstate 70 when a 2002 Ford Explorer driving westbound swerved onto the right shoulder, over-corrected and then overturned into the median.

The SUV came to a rest in the eastbound lanes of I-70. The driver of the vehicle, Peter Clark, 18, of Overland Park, was transported to Via Christi in Manhattan, along with a 19-year-old passenger, Laura Herter of Shawnee.

The report from Kansas Highway Patrol indicates both parties were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
