    The following summary of calls for service/reports filed by the Riley County Police Department is a portion of those received by police. Some names, addresses, and case details are withheld to follow local, state, and federal law as well as in an attempt to protect community members from being victimized further. Those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

    MANHATTAN, KAN. – 

    Officers filed a report for criminal damage to property in the 1100 block of Laramie St. in Manhattan on September 24, 2021, around 9:07 p.m. Officers listed a 27-year-old female as the victim when it was reported an unknown suspect “keyed” his car. The total estimated loss associated with this case is at or under $1,000. Anyone with information can contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers.     Officers responded to the report of a medical call in the 500 block of Stone Dr. in Manhattan on September 25, 2021, around 2:29 a.m. When officers arrived on scene, they found a deceased 63-year-old female. The investigation is underway. No foul play is suspected at this time.

    Officers filed a report for criminal discharge of a firearm and criminal damage to property in 800 block of Vattier St. in Manhattan on September 26, 2021, around 4:35 a.m. Officers listed 41- and 66-year-old males and a 20-year-old female as the victims when it was reported an unknown suspect fired a gun causing damage to a building. No injuries were reported. The total estimated loss associated with this case is approximately $50. Anyone with information can contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers.     Officers filed a report for burglary and criminal use of a financial card in the 2200 block of College Ave. in Manhattan on September 26, 2021, around 8:16 a.m. Officers listed an 18-year-old male, Walmart and Walgreens as the victims when it was reported an unknown male suspect entered the male victim’s unlocked truck and stole his wallet containing cash and financial cards, Leupold binoculars and two pairs of black Rayban sunglasses. The suspect then used a stolen financial card to make purchases at Walmart and Walgreens.     Officers filed a report for theft in the 500 block of Osage St. in Manhattan on September 26, 2021, around 12:03 p.m. Officers listed a 41-year-old male as the victim when it was reported an unknown suspect stole his black 1981 Kawasaki KZ650 motorcycle.     Officers filed a report for theft in the 400 block of Colorado St. in Manhattan on September 26, 2021, around 1:08 p.m. Officers listed a 75-year-old female as the victim when it was reported an unknown female suspect stole her blue Vera Wang purse containing cash and financial cards while the victim had set the purse on the ground.     Officers filed a report for theft in the 1400 block of Yuma St. in Manhattan on September 26, 2021, around 3:14 p.m. Officers listed a 76-year-old male as the victim when it was reported an unknown suspect stole his red 2005 Dodge Ram with the keys left inside.
