    RCPD Report: 12/20/21

    The following summary of calls for service/reports filed by the Riley County Police Department is a portion of those received by police. Some names, addresses, and case details are withheld to follow local, state, and federal law as well as in an attempt to protect community members from being victimized further. Those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

    MANHATTAN, KAN. – 

    Officers filed a report for burglary and criminal damage to property in the 6300 block of Tuttle Creek Blvd. in Manhattan on December 18, 2021, around 9:27 a.m. Officers listed a 49-year-old female, 48-, 50-, 51- and 64-year-old males, and Taylor Self Storage as the victims when it was reported a female and male suspect driving a red Jeep Grand Cherokee broke into multiple storage units. Property stolen and loss amounts are still being determined at this time. Anyone with information can contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers. Using the Crime Stoppers service can allow you to remain anonymous and could qualify you for a cash reward of up to $1,000.

    Officers filed a report for aggravated battery and domestic battery in Manhattan on December 18, 2021, around 1:17 p.m. Officers listed 18- and 21-year-old females as the victims when it was reported 21- and 18-year-old female suspects were in an altercation with them and the 21-year-old female suspect hit the 18-year-old victim in the head with a toaster. Lakesha Randolph, 21, of Manhattan was arrested in connection for aggravated battery. Randolph is currently confined in the Riley County Jail on a total bond of $5,000.

    Officers responded to the report of an injury crash near the intersection of Wreath Ave. and Dickens Ave. in Manhattan on December 19, 2021, around 3:19 p.m. When officers arrived on scene, they found a 2013 Hyundai Sonata driven by Mehmet Celebi, 60, of Manhattan had failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign and collided with a 2011 Kia Sportage driven by Tessa Henry, 22, of Manhattan. Henry was transported to Via Christi for evaluation of shoulder and side pain. Celebi was issued a citation for failure to yield right of way at a stop sign.

    Officers filed a report for attempted domestic battery and criminal damage to property in Manhattan on December 19, 2021, around 4:54 p.m. Officers listed an 18-year-old female as the victim when it was reported a 17-year-old male suspect had broken her Apple iPhone 12 Pro. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $1,200.

    Officers filed a report for aggravated assault, domestic battery, blackmail and breach of privacy in Manhattan on December 19, 2021, around 10:26 p.m. Officers listed a 22-year-old female as the victim when it was reported a 23-year-old male suspect threatened her with a gun and blackmailed her out of $2,000.
