Pottawatomie County on Monday approved a $1,968,189.60 bid from Bridges Inc. to replace the
    deteriorating Louisville Rd. Bridge.

The road has been closed to through traffic since May 2023. Tim Eisenbarth, public works director, told commissioners he had reviewed all the documents before making his recommendation. He also said he went a little further on looking into the company since the county had not worked with them in the past.

“We’ve not done business with them,” he said. “But they are a good company.” He added he checked with
the Kansas Turnpike Authority, KDOT and several others. “They all have used Bridges Inc. and they all
    gave good references.”

The project is set to start in November with an estimated five-month completion cycle. However,
Eisenbarth said the window is open until Aug. 1, 2025, so the road is open before school starts that year.
The county also opened bids on the Havensville Bridge project.

The engineer estimate was $962,167. There were six bids, with the lowest apparent bid from Ebert Construction of $776,981.67. Eisenbarth will review the bid and bring a recommendation back to the next meeting.
