Junction City Police are seeking the public’s help identifying a motorcyclist who was involved in a high speed chase earlier this week. Police are trying to identify the sport motorcycle, the two riders and/or owners based on photographs from the Wednesday pursuit in and around Junction City. The sport motorcycle is black with no markings, no visible license plate, and has a short, low hanging, exhaust pipe. The riders were a white male and a white female. MANHATTAN — An investigation continues into the shooting incident outside the Kansas State University Foundation Building Thursday morning. No injuries were reported. Kansas State University Police completed their preliminary investigation and the scene was released for normal activity at around 12:30 p.m. A short time later, Kansas State University Police say the victim showed up at the Riley County Police Department headquarters. MANHATTAN — The Manhattan Fire Department responded just after midnight Thursday to a shed on fire in the Northview neighborhood. Firefighters arrived to find the 10-foot-by-10-foot shed in the 2100 block of Mike Place fully engulfed. Fire spread to the adjacent mobile homes. The shed fire was contained within five minutes, although crews had to remove siding and skirting from both mobile homes to ensure it was extinguished. After several days of rain, the outlook for the end of the week looks encouraging for the Manhattan area. Still, some rivers and streams remain high including the Kansas River which is in a flood warning until Friday afternoon. At 6 a.m. the stage was 17.62 feet, just slightly under flood stage which is 18 feet. Minor flooding is forecast. More rains are expected through the evening into early Thursday. A flood warning continues on the Kansas River at Manhattan affecting Pottawatomie, Riley and Wabaunsee continues until Saturday morning. The river level climbed into minor flood stage Wednesday afternoon and is forecast to rise to 18.8 feet by Friday afternoon before beginning a gradual decline into the weekend. MANHATTAN — Three children were injured Tuesday evening in a crash near Tuttle Creek Blvd. and Ewing Road. Riley County Police responded just after 6 p.m. to a two-vehicle accident involving a passenger car and a minivan. Police determined the accident occurred when the passenger car driver, 23-year-old Jaylen King of Manhattan, failed to yield the right of way to the minivan driver, 30-year-old Kristin Powers of Olsburg. Three children riding in the minivan were transported to Via Christi Hospital for treatment of their injuries. MANHATTAN — A $20 million gift has been bestowed on the Kansas State University College of Business Administration. Paul and Sandra Edgerley of Brookline, Massachusetts made the donation recently to support the college’s recently adopted five-year strategic plan and vision. The Edgeleys’ gift helps the college get nearly halfway to its goal of doubling its endowment from $50 million to $100 million by 2021. Severe weather moved through the region Monday evening bringing with it large hail, strong winds and a lot of rain. Flash flood warnings were issued overnight for the Manhattan area which have since been lifted. A flood watch continues through Wednesday night. JUNCTION CITY — A U.S. Marine Corps veteran has been nominated to become the next Geary County Sheriff. Daniel Jackson was nominated by delegates from the Geary County Republican Central Committee Saturday morning. The purpose of the meeting was to select the successor to Tony Wolf, who resigned after pleading no contest to charges of theft and misuse of public funds in Geary County District Court in late April. MANHATTAN — Riley County Police have arrested a 25-year-old suspect accused of discharging a gun early Sunday morning near the 800 block of North Manhattan Ave. in Manhattan. According to police, Antonio Coffin was charged with aggravated assault; use of a deadly weapon in the incident which was reported just before 3 a.m. Sunday. Four women were listed as victims in the incident. Coffin was issued a $10,000 bond but was no longer in custody as on Monday morning’s arrest report. Police say there were no injuries.
