K-State will bring four player representatives to Big 12 media days at the Omni Hotel in Dallas, set for July 22nd and 23rd. According to the official Big 12 website, safety Ty Zimmerman, wide reciever Tyler Lockett, offensive lineman BJ Finney and linebacker Tre Walker will represent the defending Big 12 champions. Zimmerman, Lockett and Finney were all named preseason All-Americans by Phil Steele earlier this month. Shane Conlon is joining teammate Ross Kivett in returning to school after being taken in this month’s MLB draft. Conlon announced his decision on twitter late last night. @Condor__15 Real excited to be a cat next year, great things to come! #unfinishedbusiness Conlon, a redshirt Sophomore, was a first team All-Big 12 selection last year and helped lead K-State to it’s first ever Super Regional. Ross Kivett on “The Game” The Big 12 Player of the Year will be back to defend his title. Junior second baseman Ross Kivett announced today that he will return to K-State for his senior season. Kivett was drafted in the 10th round (291 overall) by his hometown Cleveland Indians and would have been looking at a signing bonus of around $100,000. Ross Kivett picked up his third All-American honor this season after the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) named him a second team All-American. Kivett was joined by Jared King and Austin Fisher on the ABCA All-Midwest Region team. Fisher and Kivett were first team all-region while King was second team all-region. The three Wildcats were the most to be honored by the ABCA in a single season in school history. Kivett has also been named an All-American by Baseball America and Collegiate Baseball. Jared King will skip his senior season at K-State and sign with the New York Mets on Tuesday after being taken in the fifth round of the MLB draft. “It’s a tough decision,” King told KMAN’s “The Game” on Monday. “We had a great year and I wouldn’t change it for the world. Jared King was named a second team All-American by Perfect Game USA, the first All-American honors of his career, to become the second Wildcat named to an All-American team in 2013. He joins Ross Kivett who picked up the honors from Baseball America and Collegiate Baseball. According to reports in the Topeka Capital Journal, incoming freshman center Neville Fincher (6-10, 245) didn’t academically qualify and will have to go to a junior college. Fincher was part of a five-man freshman class for 2013, and was one of only two forwards in the class along with Wesley Iwundu (6-6, 190). He chose K-State over scholarship offers from Marshall and Seton Hall. This leaves K-State with one open scholarship for the 2013-14 basketball season.
