Police in Riley County made several drug related arrests and seized a sizable amount of methamphetamine on Thursday, August 13, 2015, after an investigation into the distribution and use of narcotics led to probable cause and initiated several search warrants. RCPD served a total of 5 search warrants and made the following arrests in Leonardville and on Bala Road located north of Manhattan, Kansas. What started as a drug search Thursday in Clay Center resulted in the discovery of bombs and bomb-making materials. KCLY Radio in Clay Center tells KMAN Law Enforcement officials from Clay Center, Clay County, and Riley County… cooperated in the search of a residence near 8th and Lane. Clay County Sheriff Chuck Dunn says Riley County was the lead investigator on this case. Several drug-related arrests are listed on Friday morning’s Riley County Police media arrest report with a news release anticipated a bit later in the morning regarding area drug distribution search warrants. At least eight arrests appear to be involved with bond amounts ranging from $4,000 to $20,000. The warrants were issued in Riley and Leonardville. Riley County Police are investigating the theft of a vehicle from several months ago. Thursday’s Riley County Police Activity reports indicates between April 22nd and 27th 34 year old  Desie Chatfield, 34, of Manhattan was a victim to a vehicle theft when his 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee was taken from the 6000 block of Tuttle Terrace in Manhattan. The vehicle also had stereo equipment inside making the total estimated loss of $4,325.
