AUSTIN, Texas (AP) The University of Texas regents will meet next week to discuss the future of the Big 12 Conference. The regents on Monday will discuss “appropriate action regarding … athletic conference membership.” The meeting will come on the same day that University of Oklahoma regents are meeting on the topic of conference affiliation. Oklahoma has indicated it is deciding whether to leave the Big 12 after being approached by multiple conferences. Texas officials flew to Oklahoma last weekend to try to convince Oklahoma to stay. LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) Highly touted prospect Braeden Anderson will not attend Kansas this academic year after the NCAA declared the power forward to be a partial qualifier. Anderson would have been eligible for financial aid with the possibility of practicing during the second semester without playing games, but Big 12 rules stipulate partial qualifiers must be approved by the league’s faculty athletic representatives. (AP) Eric Hosmer had three hits and doubled in the winning run in the ninth inning to lift Kansas City to a 7-6 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Friday night that extended the Royals’ winning streak to six games. Hosmer’s liner over the head of left fielder Juan Pierre scored Alex Gordon, who led off the inning with a single. After Miguel Cabrera’s sacrifice bunt moved Gordon to second, Billy Butler was walked intentionally. It was the Royals’ 12th walk-off victory this season. The Wildcats secured a pair of doubles victories over Western Michigan in the morning session, while South Carolina got the better of K-State’s singles’ lineup. In doubles action on Friday morning against Western Michigan, K-State registered two wins in three doubles matches. The pair of sophomore Petra Niedermayerova and junior Ana Gomez Aleman rolled to an 8-1 win over Kathleen Hawkins and Jill Pastunink. MORAGA, Calif. – The Kansas State Wildcats made quick work of the Utah Valley Wolverines on Friday night at the Saint Mary’s Tournament getting the sweep. K-State rolled from the start for the win 25-14, 25-20, 25-16 spreading the offense around and utilizing its size on the block late to get the win. TULSA, Okla. – The Kansas State women’s golf team recorded the fifth-best score of the final round on Wednesday as the Wildcats moved up three spots on the leaderboard to finish seventh at the Dale McNamara Invitational held at the par 72, 6,450-yard Patriot Golf Course. The Wildcats carded a 13-over par 301 to finish with a three-day total of 46-over par 910. K-State bettered its 10th place finish in the same event last season. A Manhattan man has been after attempting to sexually exploit a child 24-year old Jeffery Jepsen of 2817 Johnson Valley Dr. attempted to make an explicit video of a 15-year old girl. The incident is believed to have occurred in the northeast portion of Manhattan between September 1 of last year and September 15 of this year. Riley county police arrested Jepsen early Thursday morning. Jepsen is expected to face two felony counts of sexual exploitation of a child. RCPD has set Jepsen’s bond at $20,000.
