Kurt Clink of Truesdell Corp., the company doing the study,  met with the board of county commissioners on Monday to deliver a study of the bridge deck. The man charged in the death of 68 year old John Burroughs, in September of last year, appeared in court Monday afternoon for arraignment. Anthony Nichols (37) appeared in Riley County Chief Judge, Meryl Wilson’s courtroom.  Judge Wilson stated that the information alleges that Nichols did unlawfully and knowingly kill another human being with the county limits in between the 6th and 7th of September last year. To this charge, Nichols made a plea of not guilty. A trial date was set for October 8th at 9 a.m., and at this time is only set for that one day.…

Police are currently looking for an inmate from the Riley County Jail who was approved for work release and failed to return after his work shift. Officers initiated the investigation Saturday after Jason Leonard, 38, of Manhattan failed to return to the Riley County Jail. Leonard, who is serving time for a probation violation stemming from a felony burglary and misdemeanor theft case, is described as a black male standing approximately 5 feet 7 inches and weighing approximately 170 pounds.   A 47-year-old Manhattan woman was injured in an accident on Tuttle Cove Road KMAN first told you about Sunday afternoon. Amanda Unruh was taken to Mercy Regional Health Center where she was treated and released later in the day.   Riley County Police indicate Emergency crews responded to the single vehicle collision on Tuttle Cove Road near Freeman Road at approximately 10:50 AM.  Unruh was traveling east on Tuttle Cove Road when she lost control of her 2003 Pontiac Aztec. A Manhattan man accused of several major crimes, including kidnapping, appeared in Riley County District Court Monday morning after successfully firing his previous defense attorney. Jerred Snyder, is facing charges stemming from an alleged incident in which he reportedly threatened a man at gunpoint and took his vehicle.  On Monday Judge John Bosch appointed Jillian Waesche-Seaton as Snyder’s new court appointed attorney. Judge Bosch stipulated that the upcoming trial dates set for August 27, 2014 and September 3, 2014 remain unchanged until he hears from the newly appointed attorney. Snyder is still scheduled for a pretrial hearing on August 11, 2014.

The Kansas City Royals had a chance to do something on Sunday they had never done before; sweep a four game series at home from the Cleveland Indians. History will have to wait.
