TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) Police in Topeka have concluded that a pedestrian who was struck and killed on Interstate 70 took his own life. The man was identified yesterday as an 18-year-old Topeka resident. Police said his name would not be released because the death was a suicide.

This was the sixth year for the Speedy PD Race for Parkinson’s disease.  This year’s event was held at Tuttle Creek State Park, and an estimated 500 participants ran, walked or rode their bike this year. Registration and packet pick-up was held the day prior, at the Holiday Inn at the Campus.  On Saturday, additional registration and packet pick-up took place at the race site.
