Spring is upon us and Tuttle Creek Lake is preparing for the season with recreation opportunities on some of the US Army Corps of Engineers property. Tuttle Creek Cove and Stockdale will be opening April 15 to the general public. “Tuttle Cove is open through October, Stockdale we shut down at the end of September, but they’ve been open for reservations for months now,” said Caleb Snider, Park Manager. International Women’s Day is Friday, and the Manhattan chapter of the American Association of University Women is hosting its annual public forum featuring four women’s journeys from their home countries to Kansas. The internationally recognized day started in Austria in 1911 and was ratified by the UN in 1977. Due to the global nature and significance of the day, State Sen. Kansas State students took home a record number of awards from the Kansas Association of Broadcasters Student Awards this week. Students from Wildcat 91.9 FM, which is celebrating 75 years of operation this year, and Channel 8 KKSU-TV won 40 awards across both audio and visual categories. The state of Kansas and surrounding region is entering a period of potentially dangerous wildfire conditions thanks to unseasonal warm temperatures and lack of precipitation.
