Currently the host of "KMAN's Morning News", Troy is a 30 year veteran of radio, nearly 20 in northern Colorado, where he served as the "Voice of the UNC Bears" while serving as the news and sports director for one of the oldest AM stations in the country. No stranger to Manhattan nor Kansas, Troy is an alum of K-State in broadcast journalism and grew up near Circleville. He began his broadcast career with KSDB-FM on campus while working part time at another radio station in town. He's married to the former Monica Haugsness of Seneca, who has patiently put up with his schedule for more than 25 years.

The 6A soccer quarterfinals will see Manhattan once again hosting as the Indians will tangle with Garden City Tuesday night at six. The Tribe is the second-seed on the West bracket and will be hosting a Buffaloes squad that is 12-5-1 on the year. The top seed on the West bracket is Washburn Rural, which finished one game up on Manhattan for the regular season and will host Wichita Northwest at six Tuesday.

Manhattan High’s boys are the eighth seed for the 6A State tournament in Wichita after winning a sub-state title Saturday night at Derby, 61-45. Jack Wilson scored nine of his 13 in the fourth quarter, Tate Brown finished with a team high 14 for the Indians who will open the 6A tournament against Lawrence-Free State at two Thursday afternoon. The Firebirds are 21-1. The Wamego girls are the third seed in the 4A tournament and will open with Altamont-Labette County Wednesday night. The Red Raiders beat Holton Friday to qualify for the state tournament.

The 6A girls state tournament got off to a rousing start for the Manhattan Indians Tuesday night as they were able to hold off a comeback by Hutchinson to claim a 36-31. The 11th seeded team on the 6A West bracket built to as much as a nine point lead in both the second and third quarters, but saw Hutch tie the game at 30 at the end of the 3rd. Three Manhattan High wrestlers won regional titles Saturday and a total of eight qualified for the State 6A meet this coming weekend. Easton Taylor at 138 pounds, Tucker Brunner at 152 and Talique Houston at 220 pounds won titles in their weight classes as Manhattan finished fourth in the regional in Wichita as a team. Wamego will send six wrestlers to the 4A state meet, including Hayden Oviatt, who won the regional title at 195 pounds. Riley County had two state qualifiers, Rock Creek one.

KSHSAA finalized its brackets for the Class 1A sub-state tournaments Sunday morning, setting up games this week for three of the four 1A Division I teams in the area. The Frankfort girls will host Onaga Friday night, seeking to move on to a matchup against second-seeded Doniphan West a week later.  Also on Friday, Blue Valley-Randolph play at Lincoln, with the winner advancing to face Clifton-Clyde the following week. The Manhattan High boys used nine three pointers to build a lead at Washburn Rural Friday night and held on for a 59-56 win, their third in a row. Jack Wilson scored 21 points, Tate Brown 14 as the Indians withstood a Junior Blues run that briefly allowed the home team to take a lead early in the 4th Quarter. After moving to within a game of five-hundred in Big 12 games, Kansas State plays the first of back-to-back road game Saturday, matching up with Oklahoma State. In their last two wins, the Wildcats have had to fight back from double-digit deficits.
