WICHITA, Kan. (AP) A Wisconsin truck driver who joined a cyberattack on Wichita-based Koch Industries will learn his fate for the onslaught that briefly took the company’s website offline. Eric Rosol, of Black Creek, Wis., faced sentencing Monday in U.S. District Court in Wichita on one misdemeanor count of accessing a protected computer. Prosecutors agreed in Rosol’s plea deal to recommend a sentence at the low end of federal guidelines. A new baler was on the agenda for Monday’s Pottawatomie County Commission meeting. Tim Eisenbarth, County Noxious Weed Director, brought forth the request during the meeting. Eisenbarth explained some of the advantages of this new baler compared to the one they currently lease is it would reduce labor of personnel by being able to do more. Eisenbarth added they could also bale more than just paper, cardboard and plastics. John Jobe’s first day as the Riley County Extension 4-H Agent was Monday, and County Extension Director, Jennifer Wilson brought him in to meet the Riley County Commission during their meeting. Jobe received both his undergraduate degree and graduate degrees from Kansas State University’s College of Human Ecology.  Although he is originally from Dodge City, he has been living in Manhattan the past few years working at the Boys and Girls Club. A 49-year-old man convicted of sex-related charges in Geary county more than 20 years ago has apparently been passed over for parole. Darryl Manco was convicted of indecent liberties with a child and aggravated sodomy in 1992. He had been up for a possible December first release date, but a check with the Department of Corrections Monday indicates his next possible release date isn’t until March of 2018. Manco was on the October public comment session list for possible parole.

Topeka- Kansas Governor Sam Brownback today announced Jackie McClaskey as Secretary of the Department of Agriculture, succeeding Dale Rodman, who will step down from the position Dec. 10, 2013.    McClaskey, Manhattan, grew up on a small family farm in Girard, Kan.  She has been with the Department of Agriculture since 2011.  She served as an assistant secretary beginning in January 2011 before being named Deputy Secretary in July. K-State volleyball made their final match this season at Ahearn Fieldhouse one to remember on Saturday night with an upset of #25 Iowa State 25-21, 25-16, 25-23. Six Wildcat seniors were honored following the game as Courtney Traxson led the team with 11 kills and Kaitlynn Pelger had 10.
